Causes of Fever Blisters

Causes of fever blisters (cold sores) are generally the result of the herpes simplex virus 1 infection, occurring after a fever, illness, body stress, and resulting in reduced immunity. Other causes of fever blisters can also be caused by nutrient deficiencies, or hormone imbalance, such as before menstruation. Mouth sores occur most often in women, generally because of hormone imbalance during the menstrual cycle.

Further causes of fever blisters are Herpes Simplex 1, B complex, iron and or folic acid deficiency. High arginine food diet, and reduced immunity. Sodium-lauryl-sulfate toothpaste, premenstrual tension, consequent hormone imbalance, Crohn's disease, gluten sensitivity, over-acid diet, recurring virus infection and emotional stress.

Outbreak may be triggered by, exposure to sunlight (especially on the lips), stress, fatigue, other infections, such as a cold or flu, food allergies. Dental treatment, injury to the lips or gums, cosmetic surgery (such as dermabrasion or laser skin resurfacing), hormonal changes caused by a woman's menstrual cycle, and pregnancy.

Cold sores can occur on the lips, tongue, inside of the cheeks or on the gums. Cold sores usually look like clusters of small blisters on the lip and outer edge of the mouth. The skin around the blisters is often red and inflamed. The blisters can break open, weep a clear fluid, and then scab over after a few days. Usually involve mouth sores that indicate body chemistry imbalance, coupled with a hypothyoid condition and usually by a food allergy.

Herpes simplex virus sores on the face and mouth are contagious. (Do not kiss if you have a cold sore) They begin with a small, sore, often pusy blister. The lips and inside of the mouth are usually sore. Cold sores are most prevalent in winter more than warm months, unless the lips get sunburned. Complete healing may take 7 to 10 days.
