Insect bites including mosquitoes, fleas, flies, bed bugs and chiggers are similar in appearance and pose little danger. The injection of salivary fluid or venom into the skin provokes a small, itchy, swelling that can last for hours to days. The bites are seldomly dangerous, rarely mosquito bites can transmit disease such as malaria, yellow fever and encephalitis (inflammation of the brain) in some areas.
For people allergic to insect or spider bites, the bite can cause severe trauma and even life-threatening anaphylactic shock. Tick bites which can spread diseases such as babesiosis, Lyme disease or Rocky Mountain spotting fever.
Symptoms of most insect bites are swelling at the site of the bite, itching or burning and local numbness or tingling. Bites of poisonous spiders and scorpions can produce symptoms such as intense pain at the site of bite, stiffness, joint pain, muscle spasms, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting. Fever or chills, difficulty breathing or swallowing, wheezing or hoarseness. Swelling around the eyes, lips, tongue or throat, spreading, ulcerated wound, dizziness, impaired speech, a reddish rash or hives, stomach cramps, convulsions and loss of consciousness.

Grapfruit seed extract helps cleanse, reduce pain, swelling and itching associated with insect bites and stings.
Insect Bites: Apply (GSE) in an undiluted form to bites. If the skin is sensitive, mix with a little bit of water or almond, olive, sesame, avocado or vegetable oil.
